Affleurements de veines de fluorite et barytine, dans la forêt, aux alentours de la mine d'Erzgrubenthal

Ancient copper mine, started around 1560. The hydrothermal vein, which trends ESE-WNW and dips almost vertically, consists of quartz, calcite and minor baryte whose content increases at greater depth. It is hosted by volcano-sedimentary rocks (Visé group) and occupies a fracture in a fault related to the main Vosges fault zone. The main ore was chalcopyrite, accompanied by minor sphalerite, galena and fahlore. Located opposite to Herrenfluh hill in the upper Fluhbaechle valley, about 4 km NW of Wattviller.
